Welcome to Calavera Hills Elementary—a California Distinguished School!

Calavera Hills Elementary School serves grades kindergarten through five. Our mission is to create a student-centered learning community characterized by interdependence. Learning is inherently a social activity, and we believe that students benefit from ongoing, meaningful, and collaborative learning that occurs within classrooms, in grade-level teams, through cross-age buddies, and among the entire student community. Adults—including teachers, staff, administrators, and parent groups—are also key members of the learning community. Collaboration is a centerpiece at all levels of our school system. We recognize and accept our responsibility for proactive involvement in the development of programs which evolve beyond the state and district guidelines. Towards that end, innovation is encouraged, accountability required, and evaluation on-going.

The mission of the Carlsbad Unified School District, a global community of learners, is to guarantee that our students flourish in life as enthusiastic, confident learners through a world-class educational system characterized by vigorous, personalized curriculum, dedicated teaching, and total community involvement. Calavera Hills student achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, the talented teachers, and parent and community groups. We value the power of that partnership.
